Brashear Tournament Friday February 8, 2008
Thursday night's second round games are completed Friday setting up a full day of basketball Saturday.
The Brashear Tigers faced off against the Marion County Mustangs Friday night in the boys championship semifinals. Marion County jumped out to a 7-4 1st quarter lead, but Brashear came back to take a 22-17 lead into halftime. Brashear still lead 35-31 after 3 quarters, but the game remained in doubt all the way to the end. As the last seconds of the game ticked off the clock, the two teams were tied 48-48, but a last second shot by Trae Treasure gave Brashear a 50-48 win. Treasure led Tiger scoring with 17 points, Matt Thomas, Jacob Shipman, and Kale Watson had 8 points each, Kiley Watson had 5, and Ryan Ferdig scored 4 points. For Marion County, Josh Hirner had 16, Dakota Bainter added 14, Nathan Myers scored 9, Justin Tobias had 5, and Austin Redd scored 4 points.
In other Friday action, the Marion County girls topped Knox County 43-35 in the girls championship semifinals. The Putnam County JV girls downed Macon County 69-45 in the girls consolation semifinals and the Novinger boys edged Putnam County JV 56-47 in the boys consolation semifinals.
